SW Legends as the Historical Backend This story is fully based and baked in existing Legends continuity. I did my best to keep everything as clean and accurate as possible, because Star Wars nerds love that stuff. Everything that didn’t exist in Legends history is something that came from me. * A small hope - if anyone every reads this and has no idea about deep Legends lore (specifically with the Sith), this would lead them into discovering more about Legends stories. * Anything that could be sourced from Disney Canon is not an intended connection point...more that I was inspired by it (a reverse LucasFilm Story Group decision from 2014 hahaha) I really wanted to make this a fluid continuation & end of both KotOR stories, with pieces of the KotOR comics also thrown in. * I love The Sith Lords story, but I also understand the sludgy darkness and philosophy of that story also turned a lot of people off from it. I tried to elevate that part in this 3rd story by allowing for deep philosophical discussions and moments that specifically focused on finding a way to resolve the darkness, while making the main driver action. Span of Time between Wars The Vietnam war ended in March 1973. Ronald Regan’s presidency starting January 1981 is seen as the door closing on the horrors of Vietnam & the reintroduction of hope in America again. * It took 1-3 years for Europe to round up enough of the Axis power leadership before they felt confident in moving into a post-war phase. There are parts of the story I used as reference for this. * It took 8 years for America to have faith in its nation rebuilding, some time frame like that should be the gap between KotOR 2 and 3. Fatten up the galaxy for T’Sisaarai invasion. Kreia's Ultimate Goal Kreia’s end goal was to kill the Force. In KotOR 2 it was a ridiculous impossible task, it was easier to consider it a concept more than a real plan. BUT, despite Kreia’s narrow-minded absolutionism, it technically would have prevented the events of KotOR 3 happening * Successfully killing the Force, whether that’s the galaxy or some parts of it, would have created DMZs of safety from the T’Sisaarai, and techncially was a real threat to them. * It can be safely assumed that Kreia knew of the T’Sisaarai (generally calling them the True Sith) but had no true idea of where their power came from. She was manipulated or blocked from the truth like everyone else.<</replace>><</link>> <<link "Why did I write all of this out">><<replace "#Why">> Why the heck did I write all of this out I started writing this to satisfy my lingering wonder of how KotOR 3 could’ve ended. Star Wars was part of my childhood, and the KotOR games were on their own level in my mind (I almost failed high school finals playing them). I felt like most of the what-ifs for KotOR 3 were fleshed out in forum posts the years following KotOR II’s release. Once the Revan & Old Republic MMO came out, I found the game itself was fun & entertaining, but a distinct lack of satisfaction became solidified with the story that parts of the game & Revan book told. They addressed a lot of Revan-specific things that felt satisfactory & consistent with how the games were leading into things, but I think the quiet frustration it caused was the combination of overextending Revan’s story, while also handicapping Revan’s and (especially) Meetra’s power & agency. Even though it gave a definitive end, that part of KotOR history felt like it ultimately succumbed to plot points, not the True Sith. This dissatisfaction turned into a knot, sat in my stomach and just settled. I could be ok with where the KotOR stories ended up, and I was happy with the stories SWTOR told. Also everything Star Wars post-The Last Jedi made me realize the fan space is best served when you try not to stir up tension as much as possible 😆. 2025 comes around, I’m creating time in my life for me. ChatGPT is a tool that can directly reference all of Star Wars history at my whim. Hmmmmmm…how easy would this be? I wrote out my outline, started asking referential Star Wars questions…and this giant creative drive of settling the what-if’s in my mind took hold. This whole effort has been fulfilling for me, it is a passionate expression of my love for Star Wars, KotOR and everything in sci-fi and fantasy storytelling. I’m just happy to take ideas and concepts from my brain & practically arrange them outside of myself. If you find enjoyment in this, I hope it eases the knot in your stomach too. Hopefully it doesn’t feel like I created these stories and endings through plot points! Disclaimers: * For the sake of simplicity I followed canon endings and direction for mostly everything. Revan is a male, Meetra is a female…there was no way for me to code in custom details like that in a fan-made story with multiple choices/endings, feel free to rewrite it in your mind! **Bao-Dur's ending from KotOR 2 is generally unknown, so I made my own decision with that. * The artwork is meant to evoke the story rooted in previous games. It is not intended to match previous canon imagery. * Yes I used ChatGPT, here’s how: ** AI is the fastest reference tool known to man. Being able to compare facts about planets, characters, events, and get a full answer within 15 seconds is incredible. I cross-referenced 95% of the results with Wookieepedia. ** ChatGPT for the art of each scene. I could create them on my own, but the amount of effort to do that on the level I wanted for a free fan story didn't make it worth it for me. ** When I had fully fleshed out pieces of an outline or scene, I submitted it to ChatGPT to iron out any easy plot holes and improve my delivery. Sometimes I asked ChatGPT Kreia which was fun. There were some parts I had a vision for, but I couldn’t make them not-boring. I did use ChatGPT for spitballing ideas, and then fully wrote & fleshed out the ideas from there. ** In my regular life I’m a musician and tech guy way more than I am a literary author or book writer. All of this started from writing a two-page outline, building out the high-level outline, getting way too deep in mid-level outlines, and using ChatGPT to make sense of it all. Because it's all free fan fiction, I reason that the bar for AI slop is much lower, but I didn't use that as an excuse in the writing process. * Every part of the story was written out in full before I started to publicly post anything, also before Fate of the Old Republic was announced.
